Dark skin, a chubby face, frizzy hair, weird boobs and thunder thighs. that's Silk Smitha, or Vijayalakshmi, a South Indian maidservant name that suits her more.
The Ekta Kapoor & Milan Luthria project (after their successful 'Once Upon a time in Mumbai) has Vidya Balan playing Silk Smitha. Before I compare (and I will compare, hardcore), this is, in Vidya's words, Silk: "Silk was made to give Indian men sleepless nights! She doesn't leave much to imagination. Silk is every woman's wild side and yet she's soft where it matters. She was spunky, yet she can shock you with a straight face."
Some time spent on Youtube, however confirmed my suspicion of something else - South's definition of hot: nasty, dark, oily, scary women proud of their thunder thighs and cellulite.
About the thunder thighs:
Vidya Balan stated "I hope that I that I don't have to put on weight for Dirty Picture .
While Vidya mentioned loving her curves ("…and curves love Silk!", the original Silk Smitha looks like a typical cheap Indian hooker.
In comparison, Vidya looks the woman who'll leave men sleepless at night.
The movie's soundtrack has been scored by Music composer duo Vishal & Shekhar, and will also see Ishqiya co-star Nasseruddin Shah.
Even Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor show up in the movie as one of Silk Smitha's love interests.
The story of Silk Smitha shows her journey to South stardom, followed by controversy and an early death, possibly by suicide.
According to Vidya:
"On my part I would do research on her. I have seen her songs and films on south Indian channels. She spelt sex,"
